Gift Wrap From the Garden

images2Why spend a lot of money on gift-wrap when you can get great looks using materials from your house. It’s a great way to reduce, re-use, and recycle.

Cut out enough paper from a grocery bag to wrap your present in. Wrap it up and finish it off with a handful of raffia, which will make a nice little bow around the center.

For a Christmas gift, trim the gift with some holly leaves that have been spray painted with gold. I also attach some freeze-dried pomegranates with a glue gun. Now after you have added your decorations, just trim down the raffia.

Keep in mind that the trimmings can be changed according to the occasion. For instance, a north woods feel, use pinecones and evergreens. For the kids or Valentine’s Day, how about some red hots. For a shower, fresh flowers. And how about that birthday in the fall, why not decorate with autumn leaves. And remember, all this can go into the compost pile, except of course for my book.
