Remove a Tree Stump
The root of the problem
Whether it’s because of disease, branch overhang danger (with power lines or rooftops), or simply to open up space, sometimes a tree just has to be cut down. Which leaves a pesky problem: the stump. Solutions to the stump dilemma vary–you can rev up your chainsaw and crank out a yard sculpture, or use it as a natural bench or potted plant platform. Or you can read on to find various ways to make the darn thing disappear forever.
Plant a Tree
Setting down roots
Planting a tree is one of the nicest things you can do for your house and your neighborhood. It makes sound economic sense, too. Tree shade can reduce air conditioning costs by 15 to 50 percent. The windbreak that trees provide can shield houses from wind and snow, reducing heating costs by as much as 30 percent. Trees also increase property values, and they can provide colorful fall foliage and fond memories.
Make a Flower Bed

There’s nothing quite like a beautiful flower garden. Planting flowers and helping them thrive and grow over the seasons can connect you to the cycle of nature in a way few other hobbies will. If you want to start a flower bed but don’t know where to begin, read on. With a little patience and work, you’ll be able to watch your garden grow in no time.
Planting Tips
When is the best time to plant Daffodils?*
As soon as the soil temperature goes below 56 degrees is the best time. In greater Louisville that us usually early October. If the soil is too warm your bulbs may rot before they root.
What if I can’t get them planted before then?
Keep your stored bulbs in a cool, dry, well- ventilated spot until you plant. You can plant Daffs as late as January or February, but earlier planting is always recommended. Late-planted bulbs will likely bloom later and the flowers may be smaller and off-color from what is typical for your particular variety. It is always best to plant your Daffs as soon as possible once soil temp has cooled to 56 degrees.
